The accident victims

Three sisters lost their lives in a gory accident that occurred near St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast, the Central Regional capital.

The names of the deceased were given as Esi Akyere Mensah, Baaba Rachel Mensah and one Mummy.

According to sources, the deceased, who were part of five persons on board a private vehicle, were heading towards the Breeze, a popular drinking spot in the area when the accident occurred.

The supposed boyfriend of one of the deceased and an elderly woman believed to be their mother sustained injuries.

Initial reports said that the grey Nissan Sentra car was being driven by Mummy, youngest of the three siblings.

However, DAILY GUIDE gathered that the private vehicle was being driven by the boyfriend of one of the deceased.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control when the tyre burst leading to the vehicle to somersault several times before coming to a halt.

Other residents claimed the driver was over speeding.

“And in the process the vehicle hit a fence wall of a house close to St Augustine’s College and then a coconut three nearby, killing the three sisters on the spot.

Some of the residents quickly rushed to the scene, rescued the passengers from the mangled Nissan vehicle and rushed them to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

At the hospital it was confirmed that the three sisters had died, with the exception of the driver and another passenger.

The bodies of the deceased, one of whom is said to be a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), were deposited at the morgue of Cape Teaching Hospital pending autopsy.

The injured persons are said to be responding to treatment at the hospital.
