Stonebwoy, KSM and Kuami Eugene
From food and wine festivals to sports, art exhibitions, film and comedy and the hottest performances in live music, Accra is set for one of the busiest entertainment weekends than ever.
There are more than enough entertainment events scheduled to take place in the Ghanaian capital this weekend, starting with over five events on Friday, December 7 alone.
The shows are aimed at climaxing the 2018 Farmers’ Day holiday celebrations on Friday, and there is a cause to worry if all of them could gather the necessary crowd for organisers to make their necessary profits.
Among these shows are MTN Ghana’s third edition of the MTN Music Festival— the biggest ‘live’ music celebration in Ghana which is set take place at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The MTN Music Festival is organised in partnership with Slip Entertainment to celebrate and express the cultural heritage of Ghana through music, dance and poetry.
Artistes to perform at the platform will include Kuami Eugene, legendary highlife musician Nana Tuffour, Adina, King Promise and Armah Pino.
Few metres away from this show at the AICC is KSM ‘Unchained’ comedy show at the National Theatre on the same day. KSM is featuring Flowkin Stone, Daddy Opanka and Kojo Dwamena as some artistes to open for him. The show is a comeback for the entertainment maestro who has been off the comedy stage for awhile.
Then, at the Alliance Française on the same day is the Worla Festival of Arts & Music, an annual all-day music and arts event. The festival is also an extension of the artistic facets of Ghanaian musician Worlasi, who doubles as a painter and animator.
Some kilometres from this event is the S-Concert at the Trade Fair International Centre, La, Accra. This concert features long list of musicians like Stonebwoy, Edem, Kidi, Fancy Gadam, Kwesi Arthur, Victor AD, Kofi Kinaata, Wendy Shay, Yaa Pono and a host of others.
There is also the premiere of Eddie Nartey’s directed movie, ‘Adabraka’ at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra. Also, a new movie titled ‘Zoli’ will be premiering at the Global Cinemas on Friday evening.
Aside that, there is also the ‘Jollof Rave’, an event that celebrates the trending jollof rice movement at Serallio in Osu-Accra. The event is powered by Think Mahogany Events & 33 Point One Nine, and indications are that it’s free.
Not far from Accra is also the Black Art Street Festival at Tema, Community 4, and the list goes on and on.
This kind of competition in the event organisation space is very common in every December, and more shows are being anticipated in the coming days.
The fear, therefore, is if all of them would turn out successful.
