Akunnor Picks Kings Top Award

Ashgold head trainer, CK Akunnor left Bechem during the festive season as the ultimate winner of the 21st Kings Foundation Awards.

The annual event, put together by Kings Foundation in collaboration with Bechem United sought to reward sportsmen and entrepreneurs whose contribution has impacted positively on sports development in the country.

Akunnor, in the year under review, succeeded in guiding the Soccer Miners to escape relegation in last season’s league.

Before joining Ashgold, he was instrumental in Dreams FC’s return to the elite league.

He said in a post-award interview that the recognition will urge him on to do more in the coming seasons.

President of Bechem United, Kingsley Owusu-Achau said “We do this annually to reward the efforts of our sportsmen who have contributed to the development of sports.”

Themed ‘Changing lives through  farming’, the event saw the recognition of players of Bechem United who have excelled  including Hamza Mohammed,( overall best player), Ernest Adu (Dedication and Valour), Daniel Agyin( Most Dedicated player) and Hadzi Sadick (Most Disciplined).

Past recipients of the prestigious award were Professor Azumah Nelson, former World champion and Kwesi Nyantakyi, Ghana Football Association (GFA) president.
