Bimbilla residents demonstrating over the killing of pregnant woman

Residents of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region, especially women, have demonstrated over the killing of one Alhassan Rahinatu, a supposed pregnant woman.

Some unidentified gunmen shot and killed her at Alulani, a suburb of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North district of the Northern Region.

According to the police, at about 8pm, gunshots were heard at Alulani, a suburb of Bimbilla and when the Police and Military patrol team rushed to the area, they discovered one female dead body, Alhassan Rahinatu, 40 with gun-shot wounds.

The forty year old pregnant woman was killed by gunmen in Bimbilla; suspected to be the result of a long lasting chieftaincy unrest in the area.

The woman, who was shot together with her 14 year old daughter, died on the spot but her daughter is currently responding to treatment at the Bimbilla district hospital.

The angry residents in the area have accused one “Tata”, who is a private bodyguard to Vo-Naa Abarika Attah and are demanding that the police pick him up to assist in investigations.

Preliminary investigations, the police say, indicates that Rahinatu’s husband was the target.

Residents lamented bitterly that the prime suspect in the crime, ‘Tata’ is yet to be arrested by the police as he is left walking freely and, according to residents of Bimbilla, causing more trouble.

The demonstrators revealed that ‘Tata’ has threatened to attack anybody who throws his or her weight behind Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Dasana Andani.

DAILY GUIDE gathers that Mr Dominic Nitiwul, the MP for the area has called for cooperation of all within Bimbilla in revealing information about the killers for a GH¢10,000 reward.

Some residents of Bimbilla have called on REGSEC to up their game and maintain peace in the area to enforce the law and seek justice for the late Alhassan Rahinatu.
