Brave Banker Shoots Robber Dead

An attempt by three suspected gangsters to rob a banker at gunpoint in his (banker’s) house has resulted in the death of one of the suspects.

The banker (name withheld), who was also wielding a gun, allegedly pulled the trigger at the blind side of the robbers, claiming the life of one of them.

The two other suspects quickly took to their heels and left behind their 12-round rifle.

The lifeless body of the unidentified suspect has since been deposited at the morgue pending autopsy, as the police hunt for the remaining two.

The incident happened at Wioso, near Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region at about 1:45 am on January 2, 2018.

Thomas Awuah Asem, Senior Information Assistant, Information Services Department, Nkawie, made the disclosure.

In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, he said DSP Bernard Akotoge, the Nkawie Divisional Crime Officer of the Police Service, confirmed the news to him.

Mr Asem disclosed that the banker was asleep in his bungalow on that fateful day when he suddenly heard his dog barking at that unholy hour.

He reportedly went for his gun and true to his suspicion, he saw three suspected armed robbers, who had managed to sneak through his first gate with intent to rob him.

Mr Asem said the banker did not hesitate as he fired first, resulting in the death of one of the armed robbers.
