Farmer Caged For Defiling Girl, 12

Boye Nortey Tugah

A 25-year-old farmer Boye Nortey Tugah, who allegedly defiled a 12-year-old girl at Krochikrom, near Asiwa in the Bosome-Freho District of the Ashanti Region, has been remanded into prison custody.

The farmer reportedly lured the victim into his room on four occasions in March, this year and defiled her.

When the accused appeared before a Circuit Court in Bekwai he pleaded guilty with explanation contrary to Section 101 of Act 29/60.

But the court, presided over by Fredrick Nawurah, entered a plea of not guilty for the accused person and adjourned the case to January 1, 2019.

The prosecutor, Detective Inspector Stephen Ofori, informed the court that complainant in the case is a class teacher of the victim, while the accused person, Boye Nortey Tugah, is a farmer at Krochikrom, near Asiwa.

On November 26, 2018 at about 8:30 am, mother of the victim (name withheld) informed the complainant that the accused person had defiled her daughter repeatedly, the prosecutor narrated.

According to him, the victim corroborated the story of her mother to the class teacher, who reported to the case to police.

Inspector Ofori said the victim told police investigators that Boye Nortey Tugah defiled her in his room on four occasions.

The police immediately arrested the accused person, who admitted the offence, but explained that he only defiled her once and not four times as alleged.

He was subsequently charged and arraigned before court.
