John Boadu To Empower NPP Supporters For Victory 2020

Acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has reiterated his commitment to empowering supporters of the ruling party to win the 2020 general elections.

Mr Boadu is seeking to become the substantive General Secretary of the NPP following the suspension of Kwabena Agyapong in 2014.

He disclosed this on Sunday, April 15, this year to round up his campaign tour of the Upper East Region.

Mr Boadu previously toured the Upper West Region where he pledged to strengthen the NPP.

The acting chief scribe who doubles as national organizer of the governing NPP announced plans to resource members of the party, particularly those at the grassroots level.

That, he said, was the only way the NPP could inspire its rank and file to continue to work hard for the party to remain in power for a long time.

He said he would implement a policy to ensure that at the end of every month, each of the 275 constituencies would be given adequate resources to execute projects and compensate hardworking party executives to boost their morale.

He pledged to actualize the constitutional provision of paying monthly allowances to all constituency secretaries to make them more effective.

John Boadu toured all the 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region, comprising Bawku, Pusiga, Tempane, Garu, Nangode, Zebilla, Nabdam, Bolga East, Bongo, Talensi and Bolga Central, Builsa South, Builsa North, Chiana-Paga and Navrongo.

He said he would empower the members and executives of the party to effectively discharge their duties.

Mr Boadu told delegates that he had set up a special unit at the party headquarters that would be responsible for liaising with Ministries, Departments and Agencies so that party members can take advantage of the opportunities.

Additionally, he said that he would enjoin all government appointees to be ex-officio members and ‘patrons’ of the party executive committees at the various levels so that they could assist them financially.

His message was welcomed by the delegates, who did not miss any opportunity to pledge their unflinching support to John Boadu, citing his immense contributions to the party’s 2016 victory as National Organizer, acting General Secretary and Director of Operations for the campaign.

In the Nabdam constituency, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Anamoo Agnes and the constituency executives, said that Mr Boadu’s track-record was unmatched and that they would go all out to campaign for him.

Executives and DCEs in other constituencies shared similar sentiments.

The Bongo DCE and former constituency chairman, Ayinbisa Ayamga Peter, stated that “by leading the party to win the 2016 elections, John Boadu as an acting general secretary of an opposition party has done what a full general secretary of a governing party could not dare to do. It is for this reason that John Boadu has to be supported by everybody. This election is not about try and error. It is about tried and tested leadership which is exactly what John Boadu brings to the table.

“If you don’t want a result-oriented person like John Boadu, who else would you want?” he quizzed.
