Kilit Tennis At Mess Club

ALL ROADS in Kumasi, will lead to the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club on Wednesday, September 21, where the second edition of the Kilit Insecticide Tennis Championship will take place.

Mess Tennis would host Sunyani Tennis Club in a one-day tennis contest, with great prizes at stake, being sponsored by Evergreen Chemicals Limited, sole distributors of Kilit Insecticide and other Polygard Products.

Also dubbed as the founder’s day tournament, the championship is an annual affair between the two clubs. They would compete in men singles, ladies singles, men doubles and ladies doubles.

Samuel Ampadu-Kyei aka Kyikyiss, President of Mess Tennis,  thanked Evergreen Chemicals Ltd for sponsoring this year’s founder’s day tournament, to help boost tennis in the Ashanti Region and Ghana at large.

He urged other corporate institutions to emulate the shining example of Evergreen Chemicals Limited, stressing that government alone cannot develop sports in the country, so the private sector must help.

The Kumasi Branch Manager of Evergreen Chemicals Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Baffour Gyawu, expressed satisfaction about how Mess Tennis has transformed over the years, promising to assist the club in future.

Mess Tennis would feature players like Kofi Affum Baffoe, Henry Akwaboah, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei, ACP Adusah-Poku, Nana Attakora, Kwasi Dekyi, Rev. Fr. James Boachie, Francis Marshall and Nana Osei Nsiah Ababio.

Others are DCOP, Kwasi Duku, Peprah Sarpong, Salifu Seidu Abebe, Robert Tetteh, Alex Yeboah-Asuamah, Ernest Antwi, Kwame Asare, Anthony Wularu, Kofi Otoo, Thomas Owusu-Ansah, Brig. Gen. Joseph Adu Boampong and Yaw Nimo Baffour.

The rest include, Ato Yankson. Capt. G.G. Klu-Amereka, James Osei Kwatreng, Nii Kwei Kussachin, Kwadwo Kyei, Maxwell Owusu and Dr. Alexis Nane-Beifuba,  Samuel Taylor, Eric Asante, Richard Torku and Dr. Abraham Adjei Oppong.

Also in the team are Justice Edward Amoako, Asante, Liberty Kwashie Amamoo, Samuel Adu Boakye (Jr), Capt. Anati Brain, Kwame Owusu, Edmund Owusu Amoasteng and Isaac Owusu

The Ladies team for Mess Tennis include Dzifa Ahorlu, Linda Oduro, Paulina Asemiteng, Brenda Sutinga, Charlotte Nyamekye, Mrs. Peggy Oppong Bawuah, and Sarhene.

The Sunyani team includes Ernest Bimpong, Peter Alibah, Emmanuel Kwarteng, Daniel Agyapong, Eric Engman, George Damoah, Bright Obrng Manu, Kofi Antwi, Abaka, Justice Koranteng, Oliver Biga, Opoku Kuffour and Joseph Nkrumah.

The rest are Walter Gyabaah, Nana Amankwa Diewuo, Nana Adusei Opoku, Alexis Abbe, Asare Wakiki, Ebenezer Gyamfi, Ntiamoah Bennet, Ben Fankah, Daniel Agyeikumhene, Daniel Kwakye and Frederick Anaba.

The ladies team for the visitors includes Adelaide Owusu Ansah, Irene Ocran, Salah Alhassan, Juliana Kuffour, Hellen Kyei Ohemeng.
