The extraordinary negotiation skills of the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, has once again yielded positive results, as Kumasi is set to benefit from a modern eye center of international standard.
Mr Osei Assibey, who is presently on a working visit in China, has been able to negotiate with authorities of the Wenzhou Medical School to partner the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for the construction of a modern eye centre.
The latest deal would see Wenzhou Medical School, which has an eye vision centre, regarded as the number one ophthalmology centre in China, supporting KATH to treat eye-related illnesses.
The yet-to-be established eye centre would put KATH and Kumasi in a position to treat patients with various eye deficiencies at KATH.
The Wenzhou Medical School and KATH’s collaboration would also bring about several benefits, especially in the area of knowledge transfer to help enhance the treatment of eye cases in both countries.
Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China, Dr Charles Dwamena, who is a product of Wenzhou Medical University in China, also played significant roles in reaching the project deal.
Wenzhou in China and Kumasi in Ghana have enjoyed a sister-city relationship for some time now, with the sole intention of the two cities supporting each other to properly transform.
Speaking with DAILY GUIDE in a phone interview, Mr Osei Assibey stated that leadership is about making strategic moves to help secure important projects that would enhance healthcare delivery in Kumasi.
