Spoken Word Night At Goethe-Institut

Yibor Kojo Yibor and Crystal Tettey

An evening of spoken word dubbed ‘S/HE’ by Yibor Kojo Yibor and Crystal Tettey that will showcase and highlight feminine and masculine energies will take place at the Goethe-Institut in Accra on Friday, April 20.

Both artists, who have a wealth of experience, will severally and jointly thrill spoken word fans with stimulating poems during the event, which marks the 10th anniversary of ‘Ehalakasa’, a foremost spoken word community in Ghana.

Over the past decade, ‘Ehalakasa’ has been engaged in community development through school outreach programmes, regional and national slams, as well as many other activities that ensure that the youth remain informed and active in the literary / performing arts.

A co-founder of ‘Ehalakasa’, Yibor, who has performed in various countries in Europe and Africa, was a member of the trio Menon Black, a group of actors and comedians who flooded theatre stages in Ghana and Europe with a brilliant adaptation of ‘The Trial’, a classic European novel by the late German author Franz Kafka.

An arts-in-development consultant, Tettey, was the project coordinator for ‘Buzz Meets Biz 2017’, an international exchange programme for musicians and music professionals.

An astute poet/musician, she has performed on numerous platforms in Denmark, Germany, France and various parts of Ghana. In 2015 and 2016, Tettey and Yibor, alongside other artists, were facilitators of the Danish Centre for Culture and Development project dubbed ‘World Images In Motion’, which involved nationwide workshops tour of Denmark’s high schools and universities.

The programme is being supported by the Goethe-Institut in Accra.
