The Sad Story Of Yousif Musah

Yousif Musah

Yousif Musah is a 38-year old man living in Wangara Line, a suburb of Techiman.  He has a childhood best friend called Sumaila, who works at the passport office at Sunyani and normally visits his family home at Techiman.

On 15th December 2018, Yousif had a call around 9.00pm from Sumaila, inviting him to come to his house for a conversation.  In the course of the conversation, Sumaila suddenly fell into coma and much as Yousif tried to save his life, he could not so he raised alarm which attracted people including Sumaila’s mother to the scene. They quickly rushed Sumaila to the hospital.

However, Sumaila’s mother prevented Yousif from accompanying the people to the hospital accusing him of being an arm robber who tried to rob her son.  Some boys who were present, on hearing that immediately pounced on Yousif and beat him up mercilessly.  His head was battered with broken bricks and one of the boys stabbed him with a knife.  The police were called in and when they came, they handcuffed Yousif and took him to the police station but when they realized that his injury was life threatening, they took him to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman.

The following day, Sumaila regained consciousness and when he was asked what happened to him, he said he did not know and that he just felt a sudden increase in his heart beat and thereafter, fell down.  When he was asked whether Yousif did anything to him he said he did not do anything to him and neither did he give him anything to drink as some people had alleged.  The Medical Doctor who treated Sumaila said there was nothing like poison or assault.

Since Yousif was hospitalized following the severe beatings he received, Sumaila has been visiting him and vowed to defend his friend and expose those who treated him so.  The parents of Yousif reported the assault to the police but the police said they want to wait for Yousif to recuperate before they write his statement and that of Sumaila before causing any arrest. Meanwhile when those who beat Yousif heard that his friend is defending him, they have all ran away for fear of being arrested by the police. DAILY GUIDE is keenly following the story.
