The suspects at the Northern Regional Police Command
The Northern Regional Special Operations Team, known as Red Maria, has arrested 10 Nigerian nationals believed to be involved in internet fraud in Wamale, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis.
The suspects are Benjamin Ahmed, 29; Michael Monday, 25; Frank Chinadu, 25; Emmanuel Chukwuong, 25; Renew Onochie, 25; Francis Asisi, 25; Owen Umoh, 29; Shadrack John, 22; Okolie James, 27; and Purity Madubunachukwu, 17.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Niendow, said a search of the suspects’ residence recovered dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, two sachets of 225 mg Tramadol, nine laptop computers, three SIM cards and eleven mobile phones believed to have been used in internet fraud and drug-related activities.
He added that a further operation resulted in the arrest of Mohammed Hudu, 28, at Yung, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis, who was found in possession of two sachets of 250 mg Tramadol.
All suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
