2 Chiefs Arrested Over Tatale Chieftaincy Dispute

Kuyuli Chief, Ubore Nambu Jakobiki IV, and Yapul Chief Obore Bajah Sanjoku have been arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command for their involvement with a chieftaincy dispute in Tatale Sanguli.

The incident has resulted in one person dead with four others sustaining gunshots wounds.

The victims who sustained gunshots wounds are receiving treatment at the Tatale hospital and Yendi hospital respectively.

The Police are currently on a manhunt for five other suspects involved in the Chieftaincy dispute who are on the ran.

Meanwhile, nine other suspects have been arrested namely Sanjor Baaja,35, Kwesi Makarni,66, Alex Chamami,52, Bafabo Kongo,54, Kwesi Makaya,53, Kwesi Sanjor,40, Baalam Gbarasi,35, Sanjor Abdul Razak,27, Sanjor Patrick,20.

The suspects have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime to wit rioting with weapon and murder.

The suspects have since been arraigned before the Tamale magistrate court and remanded into prison custody to reappear in court on December 17, 2021.

The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Supt. Bernard Baba Ananga, who confirmed the arrest to DGN Online said the Kuyuli Chief, Ubore Nambu Jakobiki IV, and Yapul Chief Obore Bajah Sanjoku had a problem with the enskinment of a chief at Bichachabi.

According to him, the Kuyuli Chief, Ubore Nambu Jakobiki IV decided to enskin a chief at Bichachabi which had no chief within the area.

He indicated that the Yapul Chief Obore Bajah Sanjoku disagreed, however, the Kuyuli Chief went ahead and enskinned the chief, and when it was done the chief led his followers and supporters towards Bichachabi, and on their way, they were ambushed and shot at resulting in the gunshots wounds and death.

Supt. Ananga disclosed that police personnel have been deployed to the area to protect lives and property adding that calm has been restored in the area.
