Two persons have been killed at Lukula ,Mamprusi community in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The deceased Yakubu Amadu, a farmer, 40 who sustained cutlass wounds on the head died on the way to Sandema Hospital.
Another victim, Yakubu Alidu also a Farmer , 37, was shot in the rib and died on the spot at Lukula during the clash.
The bodies of the two were examined by a Medical Assistant of Kubore Hospital and released to the bereaved families for burial in accordance with the Islamic customs.
DGN Online understands that the chief of Lukula sent some youth to invite another youth group who were building a mosque in the area without his permission.
The youth who were sent by the chief had a confrontation with the other youth group who had already conveyed blocks to the site which resulted in a clash between the two groups.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Yusif Tanko, who confirmed the incident to DGN Online, said police were investigating the incident to ensure that the perpetrators were arrested and prosecuted.
DSP Tanko indicated that police were monitoring the area to ensure that the community was calm.
Meanwhile , the Savannah Regional Minister, Salifu Adam Braimah, and a high powered delegation visited Lukula to appeal to residence to give peace a chance.
