2 Masons Arrested For Stealing

Two masons are in police grips for allegedly breaking into the house of a reverend minister and stealing various items running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

The two paddies, identified as Kwesi Annor 25 years old and Godwin Achor 25, allegedly committed the act when the victim hired their services.

Items stolen included a laptop, an iPad, a mobile phone, an MP3 and an amount of GH¢6,000.

Chief Superintendent A Nantogma Yakubu, the Madina Divisional Police Commander who briefed DAILY GUIDE on the matter, said the pastor, who lives at Redco, near Madina in Accra, engaged Godwin Achor for a masonry work in his house on June 18, 2016.

After the work, the suspect was paid his full wage before he left the house.

Chief Superintendent Yakubu said in the evening, Godwin contacted his friend, Kwesi Annor, and together they went to the victim’s house while he was away and using a screw driver, they managed to throw the sliding window open and gained access to the victim’s room and stole the aforementioned items.

When police apprehended the suspects after the case had been reported and a search was conducted at their residence, most of the stolen items were recovered with the exception of the MP3. A greater part of the money had also been spent leaving only GH¢1,000.

While investigations were being conducted into the case, it came to light that Godwin Achor had been involved in other cases of theft at Madina and its environs.

Chief Superintendent Yakubu said what Achor often did whenever he was engaged to work in a house was that he critically studied the house to find out how he could gain access into it without the consent of the owner, and after work, he would organize his men to break into it to steal.

Kwesi Annor and Godwin Achor will soon be sent to court for prosecution.
