2 Nabbed For Trying To Send Narcotics, Phones To Cells

 

Two persons have been arrested for attempting to smuggle mobile phones, narcotics and other contrabands into the Anyaa and Accra Central Police Stations.

 

The suspects, Richard Nana Yaw Reynolds and Enoch Quaye, 18, were arrested separately, according to the Accra Regional Police Public Relations officer, DSP Efia Tenge, who gave details of the arrest.

 

She said Nana Kwame, an ex-cell inmate was arrested by the Anyaa Police on July 31, 2021, when he attempted to smuggle into the cell, three mobile phones concealed in a pack of rice to be given to other inmates in the cell.

 

She said suspect Enoch Quaye was arrested by the Accra Central Police Station on July 30, 2021 when he attempted to smuggle items into the cell, including  dried leaves suspected to be narcotics, 19 sticks of Rothmans cigarettes, five sachets of a medicinal drug and a king sized blue paper.

 

According to the police, the suspect concealed the items in a sachet water bag.

“Both suspects are currently in police custody awaiting further actions,” she said.
