2 Police Officers Killed By Armed Robbers

Two police officers have been gunned down by suspected armed robbers in Zuanrungu, Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

The unfortunate incident occurred Wednesday December 15, 2021 after the robbers has reportedly robbed a supermarket in the area.

Information available to DGN Online indicates that the police officers were on patrol duties and had stopped to purchase some items around the supermarket when the robbery was happening when they were shot by the robbers who thought the policemen had come to arrest them.
A statement issued by the police Thursday December 16, 2021, said the Ghana Police Service Mourns Two Police officers who died through Violent Crime.

The Service assured that “In line with our tradition, the families of these officers will be contacted and informed before we come up with details,” as the it cautioned members of the public who witnessed the dastardly act to be circumspect with information pertaining to the incident.

Ghana Police Service has this year witnessed some bad deaths of officers while executing their duties.

Some have died through accidents, others died as a result of attacks mounted on them by criminals during operations albeit the service under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare is trying so hard to ensure safety and security in all communities in the country.

The service as part of its protocols will seek the consent of the deceased families before giving full details of the incident.
