Speaking at the launch of this year’s edition of the awards, Mrs. Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, Executive Director of Askof Productions, recounted the ups and downs the scheme has been faced with since its inception in 2018.

According to her, GOWA’s mission is to celebrate women who are impacting lives in their quest to make Ghana a better place.

The executive director added that the significant role women play in nation-building cannot be overlooked; hence the award was instituted to recognise their efforts.

Veteran broadcaster, Oheneyere Gifty Anti, who was the chairperson of the event, reiterated the need to empower women by recognising their efforts.
