20th Edition Of VGMA Launched

The 20th edition of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was launched in Accra last Friday night at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

Organised by Charterhouse, the ceremony was attended by a large number of musicians, music stakeholders, journalists and a cross-section of music fans and the general public.

The ceremony also had in attendance officials from Vodafone Ghana, lead sponsor of the event, Charterhouse, organisers of the VGMA and a host of other corporate organisations.

It witnessed spectacular performances from Kuame Eugene, Kidi, Kwaku Gyasi, Kelvin Boy, Tic and a host of others.

Official list of nominees for this year’s awards ceremony was unveiled at the ceremony.

This year’s music awards ceremony will kick off with series of events which include a nominees’ jam in Kumasi on April 6 and a highlife music party on May 15 in Accra.

The organisers announced that the VGMA industry awards night will be held on Thursday, May 16 followed by music business seminar on Friday morning May 17.

A musical concert dubbed ‘VGMA Experience Concert’ will also be held on Friday evening after the music business seminar in Accra.

The main awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 18 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

It reward deserving artistes for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the development of the Ghanaian music industry,

The event is under the theme: ‘Celebrating Our People, Our Culture & Our Music’.

The organisers, however, promised music fans and industry stakeholders that this year’s event will be historic.
