3 Arrested For Daylight Robbery

THE OFORIKROM police in the Ashanti Regional capital reportedly apprehended three people suspected to be part of a daylight robbery at Top High traffic light area near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses said the gangsters, numbering about four, attacked a mobile money agent and robbed him of unspecified cash while he was on duty.

The unidentified victim was allegedly shot in the leg in the process by one of the suspects who later fled on a motorbike.

One of the witnesses called Derrick told DAILY GUIDE that the mobsters fired shots continuously into the air in an apparent show of force and threatened everyone on sight.

According to him, some motorists and commuters were caught in the tumult which resulted in a huge vehicular traffic jam with people running helter-skelter for their dear lives.

“It took the timely intervention of a police woman who was manning a certain rural bank to ward off the mobsters after firing warning shots into the air,” Derrick narrated adding that the hoodlums ran in different directions upon hearing the gunshots from the police woman.

He said the three suspects were arrested subsequently by the police around Oforikrom after trailing them, while the victim was rushed to hospital.
