3 Forex Bureau Robbers Nabbed

Three men have been arrested by the Accra Regional police for allegedly robbing a forex bureau at Nungua, an Accra suburb.

Weapons retrieved from them upon their arrest included two pistols, a short gun and a pump action gun.

They are also said to be behind two other robbery attacks on Cocoa Palace Lodge and a company near the Nungua Senior High School.

The suspects are Stephen Bediako, 30 years old; Kwaku Nuworpeh, 35 and Abass Fusieni, 23. They were said to have laid ambush near the Cosmos Forex Bureau where they attacked the victim.

Briefing the media, the Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP  Timothy Yoosa Bonga, said the gang had information about the victim, monitored him for a while before laying ambush at the forex bureau.

He said soon after the victim arrived, the gang attacked him at                 gunpoint and ordered him to hand over all the money in his possession as well as his mobile phone and two laptops.

According to ACP Yoosa Bonga, when the victim resisted, the suspects subjected him to severe beatings and threats before robbing him and bolted.

The victim later raised an alarm after the suspects had left and this attracted some residents in the area who pursued them as they fled into a bush close by.

The police later received a distress call and when they arrived at the scene, they arrested the suspects near the Manner Mission Hospital, Nungua, with the help of some residents.

The police retrieved the weapons in addition to 13 rounds of live cartridges, one spent cartridge and a sack containing an amount of GH¢4,388.

During investigation, the police discovered that the gangsters and one other currently at large,  had attacked a company known as Time Being Enterprise on July 30, 2016 where they made away with GH¢11,000 and two mobile phones.
