Members of three newly-created assemblies in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday unanimously endorsed the President’s nominees, Adwoa Amoako, George Cyril Bray and Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams Kuta as Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for Tema West, Ablekuma West and Ayawaso respectively.

At the auditorium of the Tema West Municipal Assembly at Sakumono, all 15 assembly members present voted for Adwoa Amoako.

Four out of six members of the Ablekuma West Assembly confirmed George Cyril Bray as the new MCE at Dansoman.

Four assembly members also voted for Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams Kuta at the Kanda Cultural Centre.

Addressing their friends, families and party members, among others, the three MCEs, in their acceptance speech, expressed their appreciation to the president, regional minister, among others, who reposed confidence in them.

They called for cooperation from all stakeholders in the municipalities.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Nii Ashitey, who observed proceedings in seven newly created assemblies from Friday, paid glowing tribute to the assembly members for ensuring that the business of the assemblies proceeds unimpeded.

“We are in hurry to bring relief and development to our people, and I am equally happy that your endorsement of the nominees tells it all that you are up to the task to deliver on your respective mandate.”

At the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly, Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, said that the overwhelming endorsement of George Cyril Bray showed that a new era has started in the municipality.

According to her, a lot must be done to bring development to the people to make the new Ablekuma West Assembly a model in the region.

“As an assembly, we have mapped out strategies to help us raise our revenue base and also empower women through the provision of financial assistance, among others, but we can achieve these through consensus-building,” she added.
