3 Perish In Crash At Bawdie

Three persons perished in an accident which occurred near Bawdie between Ankonsie and Adaamanso in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

The deceased have been identified as Leticia Ocran, 49; Olivia Ocran, 24; and Kwame Siawa, 15.

A police source, who confirmed the incident to Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Bawdie, said the accident occurred at 1620 hours on Saturday.

According to the source, Godwin Ocran reported to the Wassa Akropong Police that his mother, Leticia, younger sister, Olivia, and Kwame, a friend, had been knocked down by a Kia Rio taxi with registration number GT 6483-10.

The driver was reportedly travelling from Bawdie to Wassa Akropong while victims were also walking on the shoulder of the road in the same direction.

On reaching a section of the road between Ankonsie and Adaamanso, the driver of the taxi veered off the road and killed the three on the spot.

The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital pending autopsy.

The source said the driver is on the run, and no arrest has been made.
