The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals in connection with the shooting incident on the vehicle of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate at the Iron City office of the NDC in Kasoa, within the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

The suspects—Awudu Yakubum, Kwabena Essah, Hakeem Bawa, and Issaka Mashual—are currently in custody and assisting with investigations. An AK-47 rifle and 69 rounds of ammunition were retrieved during the operation.

The injured victim in this case is receiving medical care, while the body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that all incidents are under thorough investigation and that measures are in place to maintain peace and order during the ongoing elections.

Shooting Incident

The tragic event reportedly occurred near the candidate’s residence, creating panic within the community and temporarily disrupting the electoral process.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the incident began as a heated dispute among party supporters before escalating into violence.

Gunmen opened fire on the candidate’s vehicle, injuring two individuals. The victims were promptly rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.

Earlier in the day, a separate shooting incident at Odupongpehe Zion Park, unrelated to politics, left one person injured.

The altercation, linked to a chieftaincy dispute, occurred near a polling station. The suspect reportedly had an argument with another individual, which led to the shooting. The gunfire missed the intended target, hitting a bystander instead.

The injured person from the Zion Park incident is receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
