The police have arrested four suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked a victim at Pokuase CP at gunpoint and robbed him of customised gold bars worth $80,000.
The suspects have been identified as Collins Ayensu a.k.a Akorsah or Cash Money, Yahonnes Afeamekor a.k.a Appeatus, Agya Yaw a.k.a Churches and Yaw Badu a.k.a Site of Dome.
The suspects, who are currently being interrogated by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, are alleged to have also robbed the victim of jewelries and an unspecified amount of money.
DAILY GUIDE source indicates that the robbery attack occurred on March 23, 2021 at the residence of the victim around 2am after which the victim reported the matter to the police.
The source said on June 1, 2021, police investigation led to the arrest of Collins Ayensu who was having in his possession 250 grams of the victim’s customised gold which he was offering for sale.
He was selling it to a gold merchant at Adabraka when the police, upon a tip off, went and arrested him.
The source indicated that police investigations further led to the arrest of the three others who were hiding in Accra, Kumasi and the Volta Region.
“In the course of police interrogations, one of the suspects, Yaw Badu, admitted to the offence and added that he had $10,000 and GH¢8,000 as his share of the booty but the money was stolen from his room a few days after the robbery incident,” the source revealed.
The source said the police are also hunting for two other accomplices whose names have been given to the police by the robbers.
