The suspects
THE EASTERN Regional Police command has, in collaboration with the Operation Vanguard, arrested 42 illegal miners popularly known as galamseyers.
The arrests were made in the Kwaebibirem Municipality on Monday, September 30, 2019.
The suspects include 29 Ghanaians and 16 foreigners.
Among the foreigners are13 Nigeriens, one Togolese, one Malian and a national of Bissau-Guinean.
The combined police/Operations Vanguard team managed to seize eight gold detector battery chargers, one gold detector plate, one gold detector stick, one headphone, among others.
