Five nursing mothers are among female candidates sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at Kparekpare in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.

In all, 191 candidates are sitting for the exams that started Monday, with 106 being females and 85 males.

Out of the total number of the candidates, one student is reported to have been absent since Monday.

This was disclosed by Sarfo Nketia, Head of Examination at the Municipality in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday.

The GNA sighted some of the babies at the Exam Centre being attended to by caretakers while the nursing mothers sit for the examination.

Mr Nketia expressed satisfaction with the conduct of both candidates and invigilators and expressed hope that the exercise would end smoothly.
