70 Escape Death after Metro Mass Bus catches fire in Kumasi

Information reaching DGN Online indicates that about 70 congregants of a prayer camp who were going for prayers escaped unhurt after a Metro Mass Transit bus they were traveling in caught fire in the Ashanti Regional capital Monday night.

The incident reportedly occurred close to the KNUST Police station when the passengers were on their way from Kejetia to Agya Prayer Camp, a popular prayer center at Ejisu-Adadientem run by the Church of Pentecost.

According to reports, the bus caught fire when the driver detected smoke from underneath the bus with registration number GS 3611 Z.

The situation forced the passengers to run out of the bus, which the fire rendered beyond repairs. Some of their belongings burnt to ashes.

Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service were called to the scene at about 8 pm and brought the blaze under control in less than an hour.

The passengers were thereafter led to the Police station for safety, as nobody was injured.
