Eighty-eight entrepreneurs have graduated from the MTN Mini MBA programme under the SME Accelerate initiative, a partnership between MTN Business and Nova Business School Africa.

The six-month programme, which started with 90 entrepreneurs, is designed to equip Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with practical business knowledge, leadership skills and networks to scale their businesses.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Chief Enterprise Officer and Executive Committee Member of MTN Ghana, Angela Mensah-Poku, said the certification was a recognition of the entrepreneurs’ commitment to learning and determination to build competitive businesses that create jobs and value for Ghana’s economy.

She said SMEs remain the backbone of economic activity but face challenges including changing customer expectations, increasing competition, digital disruption and economic pressures, hence MTN’s decision to go beyond connectivity to build business capacity through SME Accelerate.

On his part, Chief Executive Officer of Nova Business School Africa, Professor Matthew Tsamenyi described the graduates as the future of Ghana and Africa’s economy.

“It’s been for me an exciting moment to sit in the same room with entrepreneurs because you are the future of the economy of Ghana and of Africa,” he said.

Prof. Tsamenyi commended MTN Business for co-creating the programme and thanked the leadership of MTN Ghana for their commitment throughout the programme, including participation in capstone projects.

He reiterated the school’s belief in the power of the private sector to drive national development. “If we’re going to develop, it has to be led by the private sector. Government is supposed to provide an enabling environment, but we as entrepreneurs have to drive this economy,” he stated.

He assured the Class of 2026 of continued support from both Nova Business School Africa and MTN Business to help transform their businesses into growth drivers for the economy.
