The suspects
AN UNANNOUNCED police security operation has resulted in the arrest of nine suspects, including a female, at known narcotics peddling ghettos.
The security agents also managed to retrieve quantities of substances, which are believed to be narcotic drugs, from the now-caged suspects during the operation.
The Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, reportedly, embarked upon the operation on July 14, 2023 from 3:30 to 10pm.
The successful police swoop was carried out in ghettos at Mayanka, Adowato Adomanu, Asuofia and Achiase, which are all communities within the Kumasi Metropolis.
According to a police report, the operation was intended to help clamp down on the usage and sale of narcotic drugs, especially ‘wee’ in the above mentioned areas.
The arrested suspects are Kofi Asamoah, 28, Emmanuel Sabah, 41, Roy Akologo, 61, Adwoa Nyamekye, 25, Bright Oppong, 24 and Adu Boahen Ntiamoah, 20.
The other suspects are Owusu Ansah Patrick, 25, Arhin Emmanuel, 26 and Dankwah Samuel, who is 24 years old.
According to the police report, one suspect who spotted the police on time, escaped, leaving behind a blue polythene bag, which contained suspected narcotic drugs.
The police document stated emphatically that the nine apprehended suspects, especially those that would be found culpable, would be prosecuted without delay.
“Suspects will be screened and those found in connection with the exhibit will be processed and prosecuted,” the police document, sighted by the paper, pointed out.
