Election 2016: Akufo-Addo Is Winning – Ahafo Ano chiefs

The Chief of Mpasaaso No. 1, in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency of the Ashanti region, Nana Tabiri Gyansah II, says he, together with his people, have no choice but to support the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to win this year’s elections.

According to Nana Tabiri Gyansah II, his town, as well as the vast majority of Ahafo Ano, have been deprived of development by the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government over the last seven years, because they have been tagged as belonging to the ‘opposition.’

The people of Mpasaaso No. 1, the Chief noted, will therefore have to vote in a government of their own so they can be given their fair share of development.

Nana Tabiri Gyansah II made this known on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, when the NPP flagbearer called on him at his palace, on day 1 of his 5-day tour of the Ashanti Region.

“We recollect how then candidate Kufuor assured us that he was going to give Mpasaaso a Secondary School, construct our town roads and also provide us with electricity, when he won the election of 2000. The Secondary School project began, but after the NPP lost power in 2008, it was been abandoned,” the Chief lamented.

He continued, “Nana, we know you are winning. When you do, please complete the school for us. President Kufuor gave us electricity. However, the construction of our town roads, since President Kufuor left office, has hit a snag. We are told we belong with the opposition, so it will not be done. It is a big problem for us. We, in Ahafo Ano, are described by those in power now as opposition elements, so there is no development for us.”

Nana Tabiri Gyansah II, thus, told Nana Akufo-Addo that the people of Mpasaaso are looking up to him to win the election and bring development to the people, which will include the construction of their town roads, as well as the siting of a Teacher Training College in the district.

“I have no choice but to support you wholeheartedly. Mpasaaso is your town. We give you the permission to go into the town and give the people your message, because we are tired of our current circumstances. Whatever you tell the people, we will be in support of it and back you, otherwise we will forever lag behind. Have mercy on us when you win,” he added.

You’ll win the election
At Mpasaaso No. 2, Nana Akufo-Addo also paid a courtesy call on the Chief, Nana Ampofo Twumasi III, at his palace.

Nana Ampofo Twumasi III, recounted how four years ago, he told the NPP flagbearer to be mindful of electoral officers, as well as presiding officers at the polling stations, since they, and not the voters, could be the deciding factor as to who won the elections.

“This year, be very mindful of the polling station officers. Also your parliamentary candidates, after learning of their fate also abandon the presidential vote. I urge them to protect their votes, as well as that of the presidential candidate, otherwise it will be difficult,” the Chief said.

“If this is done, Nana, you wouldn’t have a problem. God does not make mistakes. He knows why he is making you contest the third time. This is your time. Nana you will win the election. I prophesy to you that you will win this election.

“We are in support of you. When we pray to our ancestors, we remember you in our prayers. When we go to church, we pray to the Almighty on your behalf. I pray to God for strength, good health and wisdom for you,” Nana Ampofo Twumasi III added.
