Scores of passengers in different VVIP buses sustained minor injuries on Tuesday morning in an accident involving a Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus and six other vehicles on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The accident occurred at about 7:30am at Birimso Koboo in the East Akyem District of the Eastern Region.

The MMT bus rammed a Daewoo vehicle with registration number GS 8204-12, which was being towed from the shoulders of the highway after it had developed fault.

Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Yeboah Nketiah, told DAILY GUIDE that a VVIP bus with registration number GR 5007-13, trailer and other cars, which were said to be speeding, crashed into them.

According to him, the injured were quickly removed from the mangled vehicles and rushed to health facilities such as the Hawa Memorial Hospital at Akyem Tafo where they were treated.

ASP Yeboah Nketiah urged drivers to be cautious on the road, especially in the rainy season because of poor visibility and slippery road.
