Alhaji Abu Mamuda
Alhaji Abu Mamuda alias ‘Abusko’, the Sariki Samari of Tafo Zongo (Tafo Zongo Youth Chief), has sternly warned Muslims youth living in Tafo Zongo to refrain from all violent acts.
He stated emphatically that the law enforcement agencies would deal ruthlessly with anyone that would disturb the peace at Tafo.
Abusko, who is respected by the Zongo youth of Tafo and Kumasi in general, gave the stern warning following reports that some youth of Tafo Zongo were planning to cause commotion in the area soon.
According to him, the people of Tafo, irrespective of their tribal or religious affiliations, are one people who have lived peacefully for decades, adding that nobody should try to cause division among them.
Abusko, it would be recalled, played a crucial role in helping to restore peace at Tafo after bloody clashes between Zongo Youth and Tafo natives over the fencing of a cemetery, which led to the death of one person some months ago.
Tafo Lands
He stated categorically that all lands at Tafo, including the cemetery belongs to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Tafohene so the Zongo youth should take note of that important fact.
According to him, the Tafohene and his people had co-existed peacefully with the people of Zongo for many years, adding that the cemetery is under the control of the Tafohene.
Apology
Abusko, who was addressing the Zongo youth of Tafo during a crunch meeting on behalf of the entire Zongo people at Tafo, rendered unqualified apology to the Tafohene over clashes that took place in the area.
He gave assurance that the leadership of the Zongo communities at Tafo, notably the traditional leaders, would make sure that the Zongo youth adhere to the law henceforth so that Tafo’s peace would be sustained to ensure development.
Blasts KMA
Abusko stated that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) caused the skirmishes at Tafo, insisting that KMA was wrong for issuing documents to the Tafo Zongo youth to fence the cemetery.
He was of the view that the bloody clashes could have been avoided if the KMA had done the right thing by first informing and soliciting the approval of the Tafohene who is the land owner.
Closure of Ghettos
Abusko, who has the development of Tafo at heart, called for the immediate closure of all ghettos that are fast springing up at Tafo, saying “the bandits smoke wee at these ghettos and cause trouble to disturb the peace of Tafo.”
