NDC MP Goes Solo

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Akontombra in the Western Region, Herod Cobbinah, has declared his intention to contest the December parliamentary poll as an independent candidate.

Confirming his intention to DAILY GUIDE, the long-serving legislator disclosed that NDC supporters in the constituency had resolved to boycott the election if he did not contest as an independent candidate. He pointed out that he didn’t want to lose the parliamentary seat to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The MP also disclosed that he did not really lose the November primary last year, which saw Kenneth Yeboah (a fellow party member) winning with a difference of 90 votes, blaming his defeat on the regional executives of the party.

He told this paper that he would win the Akontombra seat as an independent candidate to continue the projects he had started, claiming that he was heeding to the call of the party members.

When asked about sanctions by the party if he indeed goes solo, he revealed that he had already taken the decision and so didn’t care about what the party would do to him.

He has therefore promised to improve road, electricity, education and health in the constituency.

Mr Cobbinah will be competing with Kenneth Yeboah (NDC) and Alex Tetteh of the NPP on December 7.
