Kabral Hounoured In Nzema

Ten distinguished Nzema citizens were last Saturday honoured for their immense contributions to the socio-economic development of Nzemaland.
Dubbed, ‘The Nzemaland Development Awards’, the programme was also aimed at encouraging the youth and citizens of Nzemaland to remain united and patriotic.
Among the recipients was Kabral Blay Amihere, former Ghana’s Ambassador to Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast and the immediate-past chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC).
He received the Media Development Award.
A plaque with citation was presented to the former envoy by the Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional Area, Awulae Attibrukusu.
The citation read: “You have held various high ranking public positions. You are a former president of the National Union of Ghana Students, General Secretary and President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), President of West African Journalists Association and an Executive Member of both the Commonwealth Journalists Association and International Federation of Journalists.
“You made a transition to the world of diplomacy and served successfully as Ghana’s Ambassador to Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast from 2001 to 2008.
“In giving back to your community, you built a library at your own cost for school-children at Eikwe2.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Kabral Amihere said he was highly elated about the prestigious award from the chiefs and people of Nzemaland and promised to continue to contribute his quota to the development of the area.
Minister of Energy and Petroleum, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, was adjudged the ‘Champion of Nzema Development, while the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), Dr. George Adjah Sipa-Yankey was also presented with the State Enterprise Leadership award.
Other awardees included DSP Stella Sedormey, the Ellembelle District Police Commander, Elizabeth Corney, Ellembelle District Health Director and Awulae Agyefi Kwame, Omanhene of Nsein Traditional Area, who received the Traditional Leadership award, among others.
The event was attended by paramount chiefs from Gwira, Eastern Nzema, Nsein, Western Nzema, Lower Axim, Ajomoro and Upper Axim Traditional areas.
