Mahama Praises Female Ministers

President John Mahama

President John Mahama has rated high the performance of his female appointees (ministers) stating that they have even outperformed their male counterparts. He described women as kind, loving, caring and so when given positions they are able to deliver.

When addressing a rally at Nsawam/Adoagyiri during his campaign tour of the Eastern Region on Thursday, he said, “If you look at my government, I appointed a lot of women into positions (ministers). These women perform their duties and responsibilities as diligently as their male counterparts. Most times they perform better than even the men.”

Mr. Mahama revealed, “One of the reasons why I find it difficult to appoint more female ministers is because there are no many of them in parliament. The constitution says majority of ministers must come from parliament. So if you go to a parliament of 275 members and only 20 are women, then it is difficult to make more women ministers.”

Mr. Mahama who didn’t give the exact reasons why he rated the female ministers’ performance higher than the males, called on the electorate to vote for more women into parliament for them to also get influential positions to help in the development of the nation. “You are fortunate the NDC candidate here is Benedicta Asante,” he underscored.

Aburi Chief’s Comments

The acting President of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Otubuor Gyan Kwasi II, who is said to be the friend of the president, vented his anger on the ministers for failing to help the president to achieve his aim; and had given room for the public to hurl insults on Mr. Mahama for not performing well.

Otubour Gyan Kwasi, who in 2014 heavily descended on President Mahama to stop moving around the country with promises that he could not fulfill, openly declared his support and assured President John Mahama of victory in the December 7 general election.

Speaking at his palace during a courtesy call on him by President Mahama, Otubour Gyan Kwasi said he’s convinced that the president needs another term to ensure that the Aburi township gets its fair share of development projects.
