Osei Bonsu Lifts Damanghene Golf

OSEI BOSU DISPLAYING HIS SILVERWARE, WHILE THE OFFICIALS LOOK ON 

Ex Caddy for Okyenhene, Maxwell Osei Bonsu grossed 146 score over two days to emerge winner in the Men’s Group A Wassa Damanghene golf tournament at the Damang Golf Club in the Western Region.

Following the former Ghana Open champion from the Royal Golf Club closely was Foster Korang of Damang Golf Club with a gross score of 148 points with Obuasi’s Anthony Ackah (152 points) and Paul Mensah from Ankobra-Bogoso Golf Club with 152 points in that order.

The Group B event saw Stephen Abongo from Ankobra-Bogoso emerging tops with a net score of 127 followed by Enoch Adjei from Damang with 135, Craig Tandoh from Ankobra-Bogoso with 135 and Francis Aubynn from Damang also with a net score of 136.

Tema’s Augustine Mensah won Men’s Group C with a net score of 156 followed by Damang’s Ernest Appiah with 157 and Fred Acquah from Nsuta with 160 and Isaac Addae from Ankobra-Bogoso with a net score of 169.

It was Paulina Acheampong from Damang, who won the ladies event with a net score of 159 followed by Gina Loupiac from Takoradi with a net score of 159 points with Agnes Adams from Ankobra-Bogoso finishing third.

Enninful Papa Afenyi from Nsuta finished first in the Juniors’ Group A with a gross score of 43 followed by John Cobbinah from Damang with a score of 44 and Frank Nsor from Ankobra with a score of 45.

In Group B, Ankobra’s Frank Awuni and James Anaba came first and second respectively with a gross score of 42 and 45 while Damang’s Andrews Mensah came third with a gross score of 46.

Kojo Barnie, Tarkwa won the professional’s category followed by Prince Amponsah and Issah Adams from Obuasi Golf Club.

Daniel Odoom and Ruth Mens won the longest drive while Alfred Baffour and Edith Yeboah also the closest to the pin award.

Captain of the Damang Golf Club Pius Ayeh Appiah described the tournament as a success saying, “The inclusion of juniors in the tournament was a step to encourage young persons to get interested in golf.”

Head of Sales of DHL Global Forwarding Angela Arthur also expressed satisfaction about the level of organisation and gave the strongest of hint that the tournament will continue to enjoy the support of DHL in the coming years.
