Residents undergoing Hepatitis B Sreening in Tamale
Over 150 church members of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church and residents around Changli, a suburb of Tamale, benefited from a free hepatitis B screening provided by Twellium Industrial Company Limited, producers of Verna Mineral Water.
The congregation and residents were screened by a team of nurses and doctors for hepatitis virus, height, weight and blood pressure. They also offered health medical advice to the beneficiaries of the free health screening exercise.
Marketing Representative of Verna Mineral Water, Agyeiwaa Amoah, told DAILY GUIDE that most people do not know their status when it comes to hepatitis B and so they decided to educate and screen residents as part of their social responsibility towards the society.
She indicated that five persons were found to be hepatitis B positive and had no knowledge about the deadly disease.
The nurse and doctors counselled them and guided them on how to seek treatment from certified health facilities.
Ms Amoah stated that the exercise will be replicated across the Northern Region because Twellium Industrial Company Limited cares about the well-being of their customers.
Beneficiaries of the health screening thanked the company for playing a role in sensitising people about the hepatitis B disease.
