RTN. Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, delivering his address whilst other dignitaries look on
Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, the Urban Roads Director of Kumasi, who is a member of the Kumasi Rotary Club, has charged affluent people in society to always lend a helping hand to the needy in society.
He said the development of the State and its people is not the sole responsibility of government and politicians, stressing that everybody has a role to play in the transformation of the country.
“In a society, which is politically charged as ours, it is tempting for some to believe that only politicians serve the people or humanity, nothing could be more misleading,” RTN Nana Agyeman stated.
Ing. RTN Nana Poku Agyeman, who is the grandnephew of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, disclosed this during the Rotary Club of Kumasi Presidential Ball which was held at the Golden Tulip in Kumasi on Saturday.
He entreated well-to-do people in society to emulate the shining example of members of the Rotary Club who usually show love to the less privileged in society to help accelerate the country’s growth.
“Rotary reminds us that there is no noble pursuit than the service which brightens the life of the underprivileged in society and grants access to things that make life worth living.
“May we all remain unbending in our resolve to do our bit to improve the lives of all in our nation to advance the work of Rotary Club and serve the cause of humanity,” he indicated.
He passionately appealed to all and sundry to support Rotary Club of Kumasi to raise funds to support the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
President of Rotary Club of Kumasi, RTN Peter Gyimah mentioned that his outfit had prioritized peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development.
The immediate-past President of the Rotary Club in Kumasi, RTN Nana Esi said boreholes were constructed during her tenure while hand washing campaign was launched.
Several health outreach programmes were organized and dental clinics were carried out for inmates of Kumasi Children’s Home and Garden City Special School, RTN Nana Esi added.
