Dr Josiah Aryeh
Former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh has passed on, according to media reports.
Dr Aryeh, who was a practising lawyer and law lecturer at the University of Ghana, passed away on Monday night at the 37 Military, where he had been on admission for the past two weeks.
The law lecturer was said to have been battling illness in the past weeks.
Dr Aryeh made the headlines in 2004 when he was suspended by the NDC for allegations of bribery and connivance with the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
But he later revived his political career in 2012 as he became the National Chairman of the Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ National Democratic Party (NDP).
He was also one of the few opposition politicians to visit now President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to congratulate him after he accepted the decision of the Supreme Court in August, 2013.
