The burnt toll booth
The Magistrate Court ‘B’ at Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region has adjourned to 9th January, 2017, the case involving the assembly man of the Dumesua Electoral Area, Mark Tetteh, who is accused of burning down the Fiapre Toll Booth after Nana Akufo-Addo was declared winner of the 2016 presidential election on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mark Tetteh appeared in court yesterday for the second time on the charge of willfully causing damage to a public property.
Meanwhile, his alleged accomplice, Bismarck Berfi, 23, who was also arrested on 14th December and arraigned before the same court on the same charge, has been remanded into police custody to reappear today.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE on telephone, the Brong-Ahafo police PRO, Sergeant Sampson Gbande, said Bismarck pleaded not guilty but his plea was not taken and so was remanded.
It will be recalled that a group of unknown people on 9th December 2016, allegedly burnt down the Fiapre Toll Booth on the Berekum-Sunyani highway.
Mark Tetteh was arrested by the police subsequently, arraigned before court and was granted bail with two sureties and GH¢10,000 to reappear yesterday.
