Kudalor Contract Extension Fear Grips Cops

John Kudalor – IGP

An obvious phony contract extension for the Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Mr. John Kudalor has gripped both Other Ranks and Senior Officers in the Ghana Police Service.

It is not known how the rumour started but it must have started via social media propelled by a few cops who would have wished otherwise, however for most personnel in the Other Ranks, Inspectorate and Senior Officer segments who are longing for changes in the top echelon of the Police Service.

Checks by DAILY GUIDE have, however, showed that like most stories spawned by social media, this contract extension is a hoax even though the Police Administration has not deemed it necessary to debunk it.

President Nana Akufo-Addo for sure would soon unveil details of his new Chief Constable, the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) and Service Commanders.

Intense lobbying is said to be ongoing for some of the positions but retired security experts have confided in the DAILY GUIDE that it is imperative that the President and Commander-In-Chief is allowed to make appropriate consultations before taking final decisions especially against the fact that many people who were averse to an NPP win have changed their political colours overnight.

Yesterday, a hint was dropped about intense lobbying for the National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Brig Gen Francis Vib Sanziri to be considered for a top security position. A retired security officer who dropped this hint wondered why those behind the lobbying would consider doing so for a man who was appointed NADMO chief because of his loyalty to the then ruling party.

“President Nana Akufo-Addo would be erring politically should he consider the NADMO Chief for any position within his government or in the security circles. The NADMO boss should follow the path of the others before him” he said.

NADMO has over the years become an appendage of the ruling party where only loyal NDC persons head. Soon after the defeat of the NPP in the 2008 polls, NDC’s Kofi Portuphy moved to take over the place even the necessary formality accompanying the change was effected. The Brigadier was appointed by former President John Mahama to replace Kofi Portuphy who was elected National Chairman of the NDC.

In all campaign seasons, NADMO has remained a consistent source of logistics oiling the bid of the then NDC besides offering employment to the party’s foot soldiers; the reason those who have heard about the foregone are unenthused and think something must be wrong.

Brig Sanziri’s wife Beatrice Vib Sanziri, is a Commissioner of Police at the Police Headquarters in charge of Human Resources, a critical unit exploited by the now opposition party to enlist NDC friendly youth into the law enforcement system.

In another development, DAILY GUIDE has observed the possible vacuum created by the turning away of the many selected law enforcement agents from Depot after the scandalous selection of some of them was detected. These were the first batch of personnel to form the nucleus of the protection unit for the President and other high notched government appointees. With the law enforcement personnel performing guard duties at the Flagstaff House under the Mahama administration and other places now transferred to other stations mostly in Accra, there appears to be some vacuums in some strategic locations.
