3 CEOs Fired

The former Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong, has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

The former CEO of the Tema Oil Refinery replaces Alexander Kofi-Mensah Mould, who has been occupying the position since 2013.

GTA Boss Out

President Nana Akufo-Addo has also directed the Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Gideon Aryeequaye, to immediately step down and hand over to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister-designate, Catherine Afeku.

A letter authored and signed by the Executive Secretary to the president, Nana Asante Bediatuo, stated that the decision to sack the GTA boss is in consonance with Section 14(1) of the Presidential Transition Act 2012 (Act 845).

Mr. Aryeequaye, in the letter dated January 24, 2017, was also asked to proceed to collect any terminal benefit due him under the relevant law.

“In view of the urgency attached to the matter, please ensure that you hand over and cease to act as Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority not later than 5:00 pm on January 26, 2017,” the letter instructed.

Lands C’ssion Head Fired

Similarly, the CEO of the Lands Commission, Dr. Wilfred K. Anim-Odame, has been relieved of his post.

A letter signed by Mr. Bediatuo stated that “Pursuant to Section 14 (1) of the Presidential Transitional Act 2012 (Act 825) paragraph 6 of the Scheduled thereto, you cease to hold office as Chief Executive Officer of the Lands Commission upon the assumption of office of the president of the republic.

“You are directed to hand over your office to the president’s representative at the Ministry of Lands, Forestry and Mines, Mr John Peter Amewu, and proceed to collect any terminal benefits or facilities due you under relevant law.

“In view of the urgency attached to the matter, please ensure that you hand over as you cease to be the CEO of the Lands Commission not later than 5pm on 26th  January, 2017…the president thanks you for your service to the nation and extends his best wishes.”

Asaga Given 10 Days

Meanwhile, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) boss, Moses Asaga, has been given 10 days to vacate his post.

The decision, according to sources, is to allow him prepare adequately to hand over to the one who will be chosen by the president to replace him in a few days’ time.
