BA Vets DCE Applicants

Some of the applicants awaiting to be vetted

Members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong-Ahafo Region who have applied to be appointed metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives have started going through a vetting process to be short-listed and forwarded to the president for consideration and appointment or otherwise.

The vetting, which was being handled by a team of constituency, regional and some national executives of the party, saw many party people gathered at the Regent Hotel, Sunyani, impatiently waiting for their turns to be called for interview yesterday.

Applicants for eight district assemblies – Asutifi North and South, Sunyani East and West, Tano North and South and Asunafo South and North – went through the process when it started. Though it is being done behind closed door, DAILY GUIDE has learnt that there was a long list of applicants which was to be cut down to 90 persons for the eight districts and further down to 3 for each district before submitting it to President Akufo-Addo.

According to the regional secretary of the party, Alfred Ofori Anye, the region is divided into four zones where the vetting will take place and is supposed to end on Friday. These are Sunyani, Techiman, Atebubu and Berekum.
