The Independent People’s Party (IPP) has been renamed Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
The founder of the party, Kofi Akpaloo, stated that the new name would help give the party a new image ahead of the 2020 elections.
People tend to think that IPP is not a political party because of the word independent. This misconception negatively affects the membership drive of the political party, he said.
He expressed hope that the rebranding would help attract more people to LPG ahead of the next polls.
According to Akpaloo, his political party would target the youth in its next campaign across the country.
He said, “Putting people first through technology is the motto of the LPG.
Mr. Akpaloo also indicated that the party’s popular old slogan, ‘Yenko Nkoa’ has been maintained.
The new name would make people recognize LPG as a political party. LPG is part of two powerful bodies-Liberal International and African Liberal Network, he added.
