4 Perish At Apam Junction

The accident scene

Information reaching DAILY GUIDE yesterday indicated that about four people died in a fatal accident which happened between Apam Junction and Winneba when a Ford vehicle with registration number CR1292-11, was involved in an accident.

The bodies were sent to the Winneba Government Hospital for autopsy.

According to information, the Ford was from Takoradi and heading towards Accra when the accident occurred.

It took the intervention of the Apam Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and Fire Service personnel to assist the Apam police to convey the bodies to the morgue and to maintain order on the road.

However, efforts to reach the Apam District Police Commander proved futile since he never responded to calls.

Efforts to get in touch with the regional road safety manager also proved futile as his wife who responded to DAILY GUIDE call, claimed the husband was asleep.

Earlier report had put the death toll at 14.

According to the report, an articulator truck with registration number GE 3282-X from Accra to Mankessim crashed with a Benz Sprinter with registration GM 1129-16.

According to the Apam District Police Command, 12 females and two males traveling in the Sprinter died on the spot. The police are yet to get further details about the victims.
