Daniel Adjei looking on as his men disconnect the illegally connected pipes
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) says it will soon storm some parts of the country today to check illegal connections.
The move, according to the Accra North District Manager of GWCL, Daniel Adjei, forms part of activities marking the World Water Day Celebration being observed today, March 22, 2017.
Mr. Adjei disclosed this to BUSINESS GUIDE yesterday at Nima, a suburb of Accra, where some tenants in a house owned by a certain Prince were found to be using GWCL’s water illegally.
The landlord, according to Mr. Adjei, who ordered the disconnection of the said house, has for many years illegally connected to GWCL pipes and supplied water to his tenants at a fee of GH¢80 per month without making payment to the water company.
The landlord absconded upon seeing the GWCL’s team, said Mr. Adjei, who vowed to lead his men this morning to the Accra North District to disconnect all pipes illegally connected to those of GWCL.
As at the time of filing this report, Mr. Adjei and his team were heading to the Nima Police Station to report the matter and cause the arrest of the landlord in question.
He said the crackdown on illegal connections today would be massive, warning residents to desist from the illegal acts.
