A 29-year-old taxi driver identified as Collins Danso has been arrested by the Teshie District Police Command for allegedly stealing a car from a client in guest house.
The complainant Anthony Minnor, according to the police, parked the vehicle at the premises of the guest house to pass the night.
When he woke up the following morning, his two mobile phones and cash of GHC1,250 had been stolen.
The vehicle was later retrieved from a mechanic shop at Kasoa.
Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Peter Yembillah, the Teshie District Police Command, said the complainant, on March 19, 2017, who was driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE1126-16 passed the night at Jamorine Guest House.
The following morning, the complainant realized that his pair of trousers, which he hanged on the wall, had been removed.
He immediately informed the authorities at the guest house and the owner of the vehicle.
The vehicle had a tracking device and so the complainant’s boss discovered that the suspect had parked it at a mechanic shop at Kasoa.
The Teshie Police were immediately informed and with the help of the Kasoa Police, Danso was arrested.
Superintendent Yembillah disclosed that the mechanic, upon seeing the police, bolted but Danso was arrested.
He subsequently admitted the offence upon interrogation.
The suspect, in his caution statement, said he found the car keys on the ground after he had also lodged at the guest house.
He has provisionally been charged with stealing and would soon be arraigned before court.
