The Central Regional police on Friday arrested a 38-year-old man, Kobina Nyarko, with a locally manufacturing pistol with three live cartridges at a police station.
Nyarko has since been granted bail and would be put before a Cape Coast court next week charged with willful possession of weapon.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Irene Oppong, said the incident happened on May 2, 2017, at about 1:15 pm.
According to her, Kobina Nyarko came to the police station to look for the regional commander.
She added that the police personnel at the gate used super scanner to detect the weapon that he had concealed in his pocket.
ASP Oppong claimed that upon interrogation, the suspect told the police that there’s a protracted chieftaincy dispute between the Asona and the Asine families at Assin Dansame and wanted to see the regional commander for some discussions.
