President Muhammad Buhari
President Muhammad Buhari Sunday night left Nigeria for a follow-up medical consultation with his doctors in London.
According to a press statement released by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser (Media & Publicity) to President Buhari, “He had planned to leave Sunday afternoon, but decided to tarry a bit, due to the arrival of 82 Chibok girls who arrived in Abuja earlier in the day.”
It continued further, “The President wishes to assure all Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.”
In the statement, President Buhari expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all Nigerians for their prayers and good wishes, and hoped they would continue to pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
The length of the president’s stay in London, the statement added, would be determined by the doctors, assuring Nigerians that “the government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the Vice President.”
The press statement disclosed that President Buhari had transmitted letters about the trip to the Senate and the House of Representatives, in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the country’s 1999 Constitution.
